ICI Bucharest organized the cyber diplomacy course "Cyber Diplomacy Basic Course"

Between May 18-20, 2022, the National Institute for Research & Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest, through the Cyber Diplomacy Center, organized, under the auspices of the European Security and Defence College, the cyber diplomacy course "Cyber Diplomacy Basic Course".

This course provided insights into the challenges in the field, from internet governance to cybersecurity, addressing the basic principles and pillars of cyber diplomacy.

Lecturers were leaders and decision-makers in academia, the public and private sectors, and security experts who presented students with the latest developments in cyber diplomacy, demonstrating the need to acquire the skills needed to assess and respond promptly to the risks that may arise.

Topics covered include the proliferation of cyber components in the global economy, sources of transformation of new technologies, subdomains of cyber diplomacy, and the current state of international cyber diplomacy.

During the three days, participants gained skills to understand better digital tools for achieving diplomatic goals.

Context:

The Cyber Diplomacy Center - ICI Bucharest is a unique initiative in Romania whose primary purpose is to expand cooperation and research in the diplomatic area, which necessarily complements the technological, economic, and social developments in the cyber environment. The center cooperates with ministries and authorities with responsibilities in diplomacy and cyber security.
