Dr. Eng. Adrian-Victor Vevera, General Director of the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest, participated on Thursday, 27 August 2026, in the 2026 Cyber Defense Summit: Technological Sovereignty and Resilience, where he delivered the presentation “AI, Quantum Technologies and Cyber Diplomacy: The Last Mile of a National Technology Roadmap?”
The presentation focused on the role of artificial intelligence, quantum technologies and cyber diplomacy in the development of technological and security capabilities at national level. The topics addressed are connected to the projects in which ICI Bucharest is currently involved. The Institute is part of the BSC AI Factory and is the hosting entity for RO AI Factory, through which Romania is connected to European infrastructure and services dedicated to artificial intelligence and HPC.
At the same time, ICI Bucharest has been carrying out activities in the field of cyber diplomacy for several years through the Cyber Diplomacy Center, established within the Institute. One of the initiatives developed is the International Conference on Cyber Diplomacy, organised annually as part of the Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest – DISB. In 2026, the conference reached its fifth edition and brought together in Bucharest experts and representatives of public institutions, academia and the private sector for discussions on the security of the digital space, international cooperation and emerging technologies.
The Cyber Defense Summit was organised by Centro de Innovación UC Anacleto Angelini, CiberLab, SEK – Security Ecosystem Knowledge, OnLab and Ejército de Chile, and was dedicated to cybersecurity, resilience and technological sovereignty.

Today, 19 August 2026, ICI Bucharest organised the event “ICI Open Labs: From the Laboratory to Real Life”, during which 50 participants in the Official Internship Programme of the Government of Romania discovered some of the projects and technologies developed by the Institute’s teams.
