Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest has started

Today, April 16, 2024, the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest launched the Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest (DISB), a reference event in the field of digital innovation, cyber diplomacy and the protection of critical infrastructures. Organized under the High Patronage of the President of the Chamber of Deputies and the Prime Minister of Romania, DISB 2024 brings together leaders and experts from around the world to discuss and shape the digital future of society.

The event started today with a session of speeches given by Mr. Nicolae Ionel Ciucă, President of the Senate of Romania, Mr. Mihai Alexandru Ghigiu, Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Romania, Mr. Bogdan-Marius Chiriţoiu, President of the Competition Council, Mr. Ștefan Muşoiu, Chairperson, Committee on European Affairs, Chamber of Deputies, Mrs. Aawatif Hayar, Minister of Solidarity, Social Inclusion and Family from the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. Dragoş Cristian Vlad, President of the Authority for Digitalization of Romania, Mrs. Ioana Roxana Melenciuc-Ioan, President of the National Institute for Administration, Her Excellency Kathleen Ann Kavalec, US Ambassador to Romania, Mr. Ilgar Ali Oghlu Musayev, Head of State Service of Special Communication and Information Security, Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Azerbaijan, whose host was Mr. Adrian Victor Vevera, General Director of ICI Bucharest.

"There are three full days ahead, in which we have distinguished guests, representatives of the Romanian state, friends and colleagues, experts from the academic area, the research area, the business environment and representatives of the diplomatic corps. So we want to bring together the academic area with the business area and the area of public authorities, to create an ecosystem that leads to growth and development," said Mr. Adrian Victor Vevera, General Director of ICI Bucharest, at the opening of the DISB.

Discussions on the first day covered a wide range of cyber diplomacy topics, from global digital policies to cyber security strategies and the impact of technology on international relations. The participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the latest trends in the field of digital innovation and establish valuable connections during B2B meetings and international inter-ministerial dialogues.

DISB is a global platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas, comprising two major events: the Critical Infrastructure Protection Forum (CIP Forum) and the International Conference on Cyber Diplomacy (ICCD). CIP Forum focuses on the use of blockchain in combating cyber threats while inaugurating the NFT Museum of ICI Bucharest and addressing important topics such as the involvement of women in innovation and society. On the other hand, ICCD examines the intersection of technology and international relations, with a focus on global consensus on digital policy, strengthening regional cybersecurity alliances, and proactive strategies against disinformation.
