Young Olympics in Computer Sciences Awarded by ICI Bucharest

National Institute for Research-Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest awarded today, September 29, the participants that had won gold and silver medals at the Balkan Olympics in Information Sciences, held last week in Skopje, Macedonia.

They are Maria Alexa Tudose – “I. L. Caragiale” College Ploiești; Maria Alexandra Udriştoiu and Adrian Emanuel Dicu – “Frații Buzești” College, Craiova; Cella Florescu – “Tudor Vianu” National College for Computer Sciences, Bucharest and teachers Ionel Vasile Pit-Rada of “Traian” College in Drobeta Turnu-Severin and Eugen Nodea of “Tudor Vladimirescu” College from Tg-Jiu.

The General Manager of ICI Bucharest, Prof. Doina BANCIU PhD, has handed diplomas of excellence to the young Olympics participants and introduced them to Data and Cloud Computing Center, most important public cloud infrastructure in Romania.

The representative of Ministry of Communications and Information Society, Mr Sorin MUREȘAN, welcomed the Romanian students’ achievements and those of the teachers’ who guided them and urged them not to leave the country after completing their studies.

Also, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Culture, Mr. Alexander OPREAN, stressed that research, technology and science are an integral part of the Romanian people’s culture, and the young computer scientists with their achievements honour the entire country.

The event was attended by the elite of Romanian computer science researchers and members of ICI Bucharest management team.
