On 26th November 2019, the `Technological innovation in SCADA` workshop was held on the premises of the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest.
The main aim of this event was to present the project entitled `Cyber range for industrial control systems`- ROCYRAN. The project team was represented by Carmen Cîrnu – project manager, Florin Vidu – technical coordinator and Ella Ciupercă – scientific coordinator.
This workshop intends to be the first one in a series of events on this subject, aiming to put experts from the field in contact with each other, in order to identify the best practices for training in the cyber field and support the development of the necessary abilities for maintaining cyber security.
ROCYRAN is the only cyber range dedicated to instructing SCADA operators from public civil Romanian entities in cyber security-related issues and it was created as a response to the limited availability of SCADA technic experts, SCADA cyber security experts, relevant data and specialised infrastructures.
The goal of the project is to develop a specific environment dedicated to the special training of IT experts from public institutions in areas related to cyber security and the protection of critical infrastructures by setting up a cyber-range for industrial control systems, consolidating the level of expertise of ICT specialists in SCADA and developing a research component of the cyber range to be applied in the smart technology area.
The target audience of this project is represented by the SCADA-based critical infrastructures, the digital forensics sector, information security experts and the academic field.
