On April 2, 2014, the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics held a conference on Implementation of the first Cloud Computing platform meant to serve Romanian public institutions – ICIPRO.
Prof. Doina Banciu PhD, General Director, opened the conference by presenting ICIPRO project’s specific objectives: modernization, development and optimization of public services offered to Romanian citizens by means of a Cloud-type infrastructure.
The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics will provide IT resources for processing and storage, and also, technologies that will allow public institutions, if they intent to, to migrate towards a unique platform, reducing costs and improving transparency on national level.
The “Cloud-type Infrastructure for Romanian Public Institutions” started with the launch of an open bid, financed by European funds, of approximately 17 million EURO, according to data published on the Electronic System for Public Procurement (SEAP).
The event was attended by personalities representing the Ministry for Information Society, IT industry and mass-media.
