Adrian-Victor Vevera, General Director of the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest, was a speaker at the conference “Packaging in the circular economy: new European regulations and the real impact on the industry”, organized on Thursday, May 14, 2026, within PACK SHOW 2026 – ROMEXPO.

The intervention took place during the second session of the event, entitled “Producer Responsibility, Digitalization and Financing the Transition to the Circular Economy”, dedicated to the role of digital technologies in supporting the new European requirements for traceability, reporting, and the efficient management of resources.

During the session, discussions focused on how digitalization can support the transition to a circular economy, by using data, interoperable systems and technological solutions capable of providing a clearer picture of material flows, products and packaging. Topics such as extended producer responsibility, the need for digital infrastructure, information standardization and companies’ adaptation to new European legislative obligations were addressed.

The conference brought together representatives of public administration, regulatory institutions, industry, retail, professional organizations and technology solution providers, in an applied dialogue on the impact of new European regulations on the packaging sector and the circular economy. The event was organized by the EcoAtitudine Association and InfoMediu Europa, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, within the PACK SHOW 2026 – ROMEXPO.
