Between May 20-24, 2024, ICI Bucharest, through the National Competence Center in HPC - RoNCC, together with the "Ovidius" University of Constanța, organized the hybrid event "HPC Masterclass". The five-day hybrid event brought together leading experts, academics and industry professionals who explored and presented innovations in high performance computing (HPC) technologies.
The masterclass started with a session of presentations on the RoNCC initiative, the "Ovidius Cyber Cloud" (OCC) data center, AI tools for medical applications and case studies on traffic data processing and air quality in Constanța Municipality. The second day of the event featured hands-on sessions focused on OCC hardware infrastructure and data center management.
The third day included interactive workshops and presentations from European HPC experts, including insights from the University of Donja Gorica (Montenegro), the University of Évora (Portugal), the HPC European Consortium Leading Education Activities (EUMaster4HPC - Luxembourg) and Teratec (France ), who shared their experiences and progress in HPC.
On the fourth day, NCC Netherlands (SURF) presented Advanced Computing Services for Research and introduced supercomputing, highlighting the crucial role of HPC in scientific innovation. The event concluded with a comprehensive machine learning tutorial by NCC Netherlands, focusing on the importance of artificial intelligence and machine learning in HPC.
This event addressed both the private environment (industry, SMEs, start-ups) and the public environment (universities, public administration, research and development institutes, etc.) and represented an opportunity to explore the topic of HPC, a networking opportunity and a knowledge exchange opportunity. Together, we contribute to technological advancement and open new horizons in the field of High-Performance Computing.
