ICI Bucharest strengthens civilian–defence cooperation in the field of cybersecurity within the ECYBRIDGE project

The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest participated, between 20 and 22 January 2026, in a training event organised within the European ECYBRIDGE project, entitled “Utilising NIS2 Related Regulations/Implications in the Civilian–Defence Sectors’ Cooperation”. The event took place in Tallinn, Estonia, and was hosted by the Estonian company RiskSight.

During the event in Tallinn, ICI Bucharest coordinated and delivered a 90-minute applied training session focused on the implementation of the CORE (Comprehensive Resilience Ecosystem) model, a conceptual framework developed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra, Italy, in collaboration with the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats (Hybrid CoE) in Helsinki, Finland.

The training session was planned with the direct support of experts from JRC and Hybrid CoE, ensuring a high level of practical relevance and alignment with the latest European approaches to resilience and civilian–defence cooperation. In addition, ICI Bucharest actively contributed to the other interactive working sessions, including the applied exercises carried out on the final day of the event.

The ECYBRIDGE European project aims to strengthen cooperation in cybersecurity between the civilian and military sectors through a series of activities and events organised across the participating countries, including Romania, Bulgaria, and Estonia.
