Adrian-Victor Vevera, the general director of the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest, was present on April 11, 2023, at "Bioethics and the Value of Health Data Lessons from the Past, Guidance for the Future", organized by the Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-Romania (CCE-R) in Bucharest.
The event brought together essential representatives of the health sector: public health authorities, medical specialists, patient associations, representatives of the pharmaceutical industry, and renowned international specialists who will shape the opportunities offered by the use of health data.
At the opening of the event, spoke Prof. Dr. Adrian Streinu-Cercel, the president of the Health Committee of the Senate, Cristina-Agnes Vecerdi, deputy - Health Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Frank Loeffler, the general director of Roche Romania, H.E. Arthur Mattli, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation in Romania. The first topic, "The value of data in health," was debated by conf. Diana Păun, presidential advisor - Presidential Administration, Prof. Dr. Patriciu Achimaș-Cadariu, member of the Romanian Parliament, Chamber of Deputies, Dr. Florian Bodog, member of the Romanian Parliament, Senate and Dr. Levente Vass, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health. International perspectives were discussed by Prof. Effy Vayena, professor of bioethics Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, and Mark Bale, member of the Board of Directors of the Council of Europe for Biomedicine and Human Rights.
The Director General of ICI Bucharest presented, during the session "Implementation of the European Health Data Space," the institute's concerns regarding the importance of cyber security regarding this data, as well as the projects that can become ways for Romania to implement the European Health Data Space and overcome bioethical challenges to ensure the digital transformation of the health sector. The discussions between Dr. Ștefan Bușnatu, representative of the Ministry of Health, Adrian Nicolae Buzatu, deputy director of the National Institute of Genomics, associate Dr. Dana Stănculeanu, president of the National Society of Medical Oncology in Romania, Radu Gănescu, president of the Coalition of Chronic Disease Patient Organizations from Romania (COPAC), Dr. Cristina Nerteanu, medical director of Neolife (Medlife), Dr. Andreea Cătană, primary physician of Medical Genetics, Regina Maria Laboratories, Laura Sava-Ghica, country director of Terre des Hommes and Mădălina Argăseală, RoHealth – Cluster for Health and Bioeconomy, were moderated by Dr. Marius Geantă, president of the Center for Innovation in Medicine (InoMed).
