ICI Bucharest is represented at the international conference "The Impact of Informational Interferences on Democratic Processes/Elections"

During May 14-15, 2024, ICI Bucharest is represented by Adrian-Victor Vevera, the director general of the institute, at the international conference "The Impact of Informational Interferences on Democratic Processes/Elections", organised by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the General Directorate of Internal Protection. The event is held under the auspices of the European Union's efforts to strengthen the resilience of the member states and European institutions in the face of external interference in the electoral processes.

In the current geopolitical dynamics context, this year's election polls play a central role, with assessments indicating an increased probability of informational interference by hostile state actors. Thus, the conference aims to increase the level of awareness both at the level of the MAI structures and other public authorities responsible for the organisation and running of electoral processes, as well as at the level of civil society, regarding the vulnerabilities, risks and threats generated by foreign informational interference.

The event is attended by officials from the European External Action Service (EEAS), the Center of Excellence for Combating Hybrid Threats (Hybrid CoE), the Public Diplomacy Division of NATO (PUBLIC DIPLOMACY DIVISION), VIGINUM – the technical and operational service of within the French Republic with responsibilities for ensuring protection against foreign interference, RESIST (UK) – the Office of the Prime Minister of the Government of Great Britain UK with responsibilities for strategic communication, representatives of the academic environment and civil society, as well as experts from the structures active in the field of national security.
