ICI Bucharest is a partner in the main cyber security exercise for nuclear facilities - CyberSpring 2024

Between May 8-10, 2024, ICI Bucharest participates in the main cyber security exercise for nuclear installations - CyberSpring 2024, an event organized at the headquarters of the National Military Circle under the auspices of the National Commission for the Control of Nuclear Activities (CNCAN). The partners of the exercise are the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the US Department of Energy, the Ministry of National Defense, the Cyber Defence Command, the General Directorate of Internal Protection, Cyber Intelligence, SN "Nuclearelectrica" SA, ICN Pitești S.A., the Romanian National Cyber Security Directorate, the National Institute for Research and Development in Physics and Nuclear Engineering, Austrian Institute of Technology and ICI Bucharest.

Since most cyber-attacks succeed due to a lack of awareness, the primary purpose of this exercise is to raise cybersecurity awareness and provide a beneficial digital security exercise for a national nuclear program. Each exercise participant can expect complex objectives and situations delivered through a series of interconnected stages designed to optimize the learning process, test readiness and response, and identify areas for improvement.

Conducting such exercises helps reduce cyber security risks while protecting critical communication channels, response capabilities and nuclear domain security. Thus, the CyberSpring 2024 cyber security exercise brings together all relevant stakeholders to ensure participants can adapt and practice the necessary procedures to deal with ever-evolving cybersecurity threats. At the same time, it strengthens national capabilities, communication and incident management.
