ICI Bucharest hosted the conference "Digital Transformation: Innovation, Leadership & Impact"

The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest hosted today, May 14, 2026, the conference "Digital Transformation: Innovation, Leadership & Impact", part of the Bucharest Leaders' Summit: United for a Better World. The event brought together representatives of public administration, the private sector, the technological sector and the research community. The discussions focused on digital transformation, innovation and how new technologies influence the administration, the economy and everyday life. The conference addressed topics such as the digitalization of public services, cybersecurity, communications, technological entrepreneurship, leadership and the role of public policies in supporting digital development.

An important topic of discussion was artificial intelligence, both from the perspective of the opportunities it offers and the risks that must be understood. Using AI in administration, the economy, education, or research can bring real benefits, but it also involves responsibility, especially regarding data quality, system security, and trust in the results generated.

Adrian-Victor Vevera, General Director of ICI Bucharest, stated: “Artificial intelligence can help a lot, but it should not be seen as a magic solution. This depends on the data it receives, how it is trained and how it is used. If the data is incorrect, manipulated, or introduced with the intention of affecting the system, the results can also be incorrect. We are talking about what specialists call data “poisoning”, a real risk that can affect trust in AI-based applications. Therefore, it is important for Romania to develop not only artificial intelligence applications, but also the capacity to test, verify and protect them.”

The General Director of ICI Bucharest also spoke about the steps that Romania is taking towards developing the infrastructure dedicated to artificial intelligence: "Next year, Romania will have the first functional artificial intelligence factory. It is an important project, which can provide researchers, companies and public institutions with access to advanced resources for the development and testing of AI solutions.."

The conference is part of the series of thematic events organized within the national project "Together we protect Romania", carried out by the MediaUno Press Group, in partnership with the National Institute of Statistics, the Department for Sustainable Development and the MediaUno Association.
