The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest, in partnership with the United States Commercial Service, organized today, September 3, 2025, the workshop "The Defense Industry Facing Dual-Use Technologies and NATO Requirements". The event brought together international organizations within NATO, companies in the IT&C area, representatives of academia and the defense industry, as well as security experts.
Participants brought to the fore international perspectives on the integration of dual-use technologies in defense, with a focus on cybersecurity, communications, artificial intelligence and space cooperation. Case studies and models of transnational collaboration were also presented, designed to support alignment with NATO standards and global security practices.
"The presence of organizations and experts from NATO, from the business and academic environment, but also from the area of international cooperation, demonstrates the importance that Romania must give to the development of technological capabilities. Strengthening the transatlantic partnership and the exchange of expertise in key areas, such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity or communications, represents essential steps for our country to be an active actor in the Alliance's security architecture", stated Adrian-Victor Vevera, General Director of ICI Bucharest.
Through this event, ICI Bucharest contributes to the consolidation of a framework for dialogue and cooperation between national institutions, international organizations and the private sector, to support the development of technological solutions compatible with NATO requirements and global security challenges.
