ICI Bucharest and the ICI Research & Innovation Foundation introduced children to artificial intelligence and virtual reality at the “Pietroșița Renaște” Summer School

ICI Bucharest, in partnership with the ICI Research & Innovation Foundation, took part in the 2026 edition of the “Pietroșița Renaște – Preot Ioan Oprea” Summer School, where they delivered an introductory artificial intelligence course and organised a virtual reality activity for children. Over the course of one week, nearly 200 children from Pietroșița, Moroeni, Buciumeni, Bezdead and Runcu participated in the summer school activities.

During the course, ICI Bucharest representatives introduced the children to basic concepts related to artificial intelligence, using examples drawn from their everyday experiences. The participants learned where they already encounter this technology, how some of the tools they use work and why it is important to use them responsibly.

The children’s questions and reactions soon turned the course into an open conversation. At the end of the activity, an 11-year-old boy received an award for the interest and involvement he had shown throughout the course. The children also tried VR headsets and explored a virtual environment, experiencing firsthand how different it feels to interact with digital content rather than simply view it on a screen.

Now in its second edition, the “Pietroșița Renaște – Preot Ioan Oprea” Summer School was organised by the “Renașterea Pietroșiței Ruralia” and “Comăniță” foundations. Its programme also included music, theatre, visual arts, pottery, gastronomy and sports activities.
