Adrian-Victor Vevera, General Director of ICI Bucharest, was a speaker at the Just.AI Forum

Adrian-Victor Vevera, General Director of the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest, participated, as a speaker, at the first edition of the Just.AI Forum – “Artificial Intelligence in the Service of the Judicial System”, an event organized by the Presidential Administration, through the Department of Constitutional and Legislative Affairs, under the patronage of the President of Romania.

The forum took place on May 5, 2026, at the Cotroceni Palace, bringing together representatives of the judicial system, central public institutions, academia, the technological sector, and the legal professions in a dialogue on how artificial intelligence can be integrated coherently, responsibly, and safely into the judicial system.

Adrian-Victor Vevera was a speaker at the Panel “AI in the Judiciary. The Vision of Institutional Partners”, where he stressed the need for responsible use of artificial intelligence in justice, with a focus on regulation, digital education, and preserving human-level decision-making. “Artificial intelligence is already part of our lives, whether we like it or not. In the judicial system, it must be seen as a support tool, not a replacement for human judgment. AI can help make the activity more efficient, but it depends on the quality of the data and how it is used. Therefore, we need regulation, digital education and professionals who understand its limits. In justice, technology must remain at the service of humans, and the decision must always belong to humans”, declared Adrian-Victor Vevera, General Director of ICI Bucharest.

An important moment of the event was the signing of an inter-institutional memorandum, a document that marks the beginning of a harmonized national approach regarding the responsible integration of artificial intelligence in the judicial system. The memorandum envisages the establishment of permanent dialogue groups, the assessment of the operational needs of the judicial system, the development of pilot projects, periodic monitoring, and the elaboration of short-, medium-, and long-term action plans.
