30 years of the Internet are celebrated at CNIV 2023, organized by National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest, together with the Faculty of Automation and Computers of the National University of Science and Technology in Bucharest, under the patronage of the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO.

From October 26 to 27, 2023, the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest, in collaboration with the National University of Science and Technology in Bucharest, under the patronage of the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO, is organizing the 21st edition of the National Conference on Virtual Education with the theme "30 years of the Internet: People, Moments, and Images." The event takes place, as it does every year, concurrently with the International Conference on Virtual Learning – ICVL2023, an internationally recognized scientific conference indexed in Clarivate and SCOPUS.

Over the past two decades, the CNIV - ICVL phenomenon has drawn the attention of those interested in Romanian and international virtual education projects and scientific research inspired by the latest trends in eLearning. It has provided educational stakeholders with the opportunity to exchange experiences, create joint projects, and lay the groundwork for future research collaborations.

This year, we are celebrating a moment filled with symbolism and importance - 30 years of the Internet in Romania! Although the Internet has become a routine for each of us, Romania's connection to the Internet was a significant moment not only for the development of the ITC field but for everything that today defines the essence of society - global communication, instant access to information, social media, and social participation.

The fact that, in the face of the digital divide, Romania is at the forefront of countries using this service is due to innovative institutions and extraordinary people, whom we have chosen to celebrate at CNIV 2023.
