The use of Big Data technologies in government information systems

Overall objective of the project

  • identifying and analyzing Big Data systems and technologies to increase the efficiency of the government system, by adopting and improving existing processes and operations and by implementing completely new ones.

Project description

The project implementation plan included the following stages:

  • study on the Big Data approach in the public sector;
  • analysis of technologies, good practices and e-Government solutions that use Big Data at national, European and international level;
  • impact of Big Data technologies for the development of government information systems;
  • recommendations on the use of Big Data technologies for the development of governmental information systems in Romania.

Results

  • study on the concepts related to Big Data and on the Big Data sets dedicated to the public sector that are the object of the project;
  • study on Big Data architectures, technologies and sets in government information systems;
  • selection criteria of the most representative good practices and eGovernment solutions; analysis of technologies, good practices and solutions implemented in government information systems;
  • study on Cloud Computing solutions in support of Big Data technologies;
  • set of representative features for the development of Big Data-based services for government information systems;
  • study on Big Data in government information systems;
  • study on identifying the impact of Big Data on government information services;
  • set of recommendations for the use of Big Data technologies in the development of governmental information systems in Romania.
