ICI Bucharest Secures Nikola Tesla’s Legacy for the Digital Age
The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest is redefining how cultural heritage is preserved and shared in the digital era.
The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest had the honour of hosting an official visit by a delegation from New Zealand, within a framework dedicated to international dialogue and the exchange of expertise in the digital field, on May 27, 2025.
The delegation was composed of high-level representatives, including Mr. Marian Ioans, Honorary Consul of Romania in Auckland – New Zealand, H.E. Jennifer Troup, Ambassador of New Zealand to the Kingdom of Belgium and Luxembourg, Hon. Simon Bridges, Chief Executive of the Auckland Business Chamber and Ms. Genelle Bailey, Representative for International Delegations and Executive Assistant to the CEO of the Auckland Business Chamber.
The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for ICI Bucharest to present the institutional vision and mission, along with the strategic directions of research and innovation, with a focus on cybersecurity and digital forensics – infrastructures and methodologies for protecting IT ecosystems and combating digital threats, innovation and institutional strategy – projects aimed at the digital transformation of public administration and increasing governance efficiency, blockchain technology – applied research in areas such as data traceability, digital identity and trusted infrastructures and artificial intelligence – advanced research initiatives, case studies and projects with an impact on the economy and public services. During the visit, concrete use cases developed within ICI Bucharest were presented, illustrating the impact of applied research on society and the economy.
The discussions also focused on expanding international collaborations and exploring new partnership opportunities between Romania and New Zealand in the context of global technological developments and the need to strengthen digital resilience.
The visit underlined the shared commitment to promoting innovation, security and sustainable development in the spirit of international cooperation.

ICI Bucharest organises the workshop "Harmonising Cybersecurity: Bridging Civilian and Defence Paradigms", an event dedicated to strengthening the collaboration between the civil and defence sectors in the field of cybersecurity. The event will take place in a hybrid format on September 11, 2025, at the ICI Bucharest headquarters and online.
On 30.06.2025, the financing contract for the project "INCLUSIVE - Employment services for young people, including NEETs", ID 337158, co-financed by the European Union through the Education and Employment Programme 2021 - 2027, Priority: P02 "Developing the potential of young people on the labour market (Youth employment)" was signed.
