The proposal regarding the inclusion in next year’s budget of five new DIANA Test Centres in Romania was approved during the meeting of the NATO DIANA Board of Directors, held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in Madrid, Spain.
The effort, also supported by the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest, is part of Romania’s efforts to expand national participation in the DIANA network and to better connect Romania's research and testing infrastructures to NATO initiatives dedicated to dual-use technologies. During the same meeting, the initiative regarding a nationally affiliated DIANA Accelerator, to be hosted by the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, was also advanced. The official onboarding process for the DIANA Accelerator in Romania will begin in the coming period, according to DIANA’s new affiliation framework.
ICI Bucharest welcomes this decision and will continue to support the development of national research, testing and innovation infrastructures relevant to the field of emerging and dual-use technologies.

The five Test Centres proposed for Romania would help expand DIANA’s capacity to evaluate, validate, and accelerate technologies with civil and defence applications. Their inclusion in next year’s budget represents an important stage in continuing the administrative and operational process.
