On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest hosted a visit by dozens of students with exceptional academic results from Alexandria, participants in the educational and vocational program “ Alexandria Olympic Club - Smart Romania”, organized by Antena 3 CNN in partnership with the City Hall of Alexandria.
The students, accompanied by their coordinating teachers, had the opportunity to explore the virtual reality (VR), artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and digital forensics laboratories at ICI Bucharest. One of the most anticipated moments of the day was the meeting with Nao, the robot that danced and sang the song “Macarena”, to the children's delight.
"It is a joy and an honour to have these extraordinary children with us today, at ICI Bucharest, offering them an experience that will ignite their curiosity and open their horizons. We are convinced that education and supporting young talents are the key to Romania's better and more prosperous future!" said Adrian-Victor Vevera, General Director of ICI Bucharest.
The "Alexandria Olympic Club - Smart Romania" program, now in its third edition, was initiated in 2023 as part of the "Alexandria - Excellence in Education, Smart Romania" Gala. It is dedicated to students with outstanding performance in the 2023-2024 school year. The project aims to support academic excellence, vocational guidance and the training of Romania's future leaders, offering young people inspirational educational experiences and the chance to discover various professional paths. Participants will become program ambassadors, sharing their experiences and knowledge with their colleagues and inspiring the next generations to follow their dreams.
