ICI Bucharest Secures Nikola Tesla’s Legacy for the Digital Age
The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest is redefining how cultural heritage is preserved and shared in the digital era.
Starting in January 2025, ICI Bucharest marks a significant moment in the European digital transformation, becoming an active partner in the AI Factories initiative, part of the first generation of European Artificial Intelligence (AI) Factories, coordinated by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS).
This collaboration, supported by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) and financed by European and national funds, confirms ICI Bucharest’s commitment to contributing to European technological development and strengthening the European artificial intelligence ecosystem.
As a key partner in the project, ICI Bucharest supports the development of a cutting-edge experimental platform designed to test and deploy innovative AI technologies. It provides access to high-performance computing (HPC) resources for start-ups, SMEs, and researchers from various fields, such as public administration, healthcare, biotechnology, agriculture, energy, and media.
ICI Bucharest’s involvement underlines Romania’s desire to play a strategic role in European technological innovation. Through its contribution, ICI facilitates equitable access to advanced computing resources for economic and research actors in Romania and Europe. At the same time, it aims to develop innovative AI solutions that will accelerate the transition to a competitive and sustainable digital economy.
ICI Bucharest’s participation in the AI Factories project positions Romania as a relevant actor within the European network of AI Factories, which integrates seven key locations in Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain and Sweden.
This strategic initiative promotes collaboration and innovation, supporting Europe’s digital transformation and leveraging ICI Bucharest’s expertise and technological resources for the benefit of the entire European community.
