Summer resort of national importance which is a
constituent of the town of Eforie (population 9,461, July 1,
1991), situated in SE extremity of Romania, Constanta county, on
a littoral strip between the Black Sea and Lake techirghiol,
elevation 6-20 m, 5 km from Eforie Nord and 19 km S of Constanta.
Seacoast climate with hot summers (July average temperature above
22°C) and mild winters with little snow
(January average 0°C).
Low precipitation (about 400 mm annually). Low nebulosity in
summertime when the sun shines for 10-12 hours daily. Natural
cure factors are the excintant-stressful marine climate, the
water of the Black Sea which is chlorided, sulphated, so, dic,
magnesian, hypotonic (average mineralization 15.5g) the salt
water of Lake Techirghiol (average mineralization 70-80 g), the
sapropelic mud from the bottom of the lake, the solar radiation
and the marine aerosols. On the shore of the Black Sea there are
fine-sand beaches fit for aeroheliotherapy and weve therapy, and
on the shore of Lake Techirghiol there is an open-air treatment
baze where one can have applications of cold mud from the lake
and bathe in the lake. The resort suits both healthy people who
can benefit by the air and sun during holidays and people
suffering from certain rheumatiuc conditions, certain dermatoses,
hypothyroidism, lymphatism, secondary anemia, rachitis,
decalcification, physical weakness, conditions after fractures of
the limb bones, pubertal hypoovarianism, etc. The resort has a
children's rheumatological sanatorium, which is permanent, and a
summer sanatorium specialized in weakly conditions and rachitis.
