Going in "Tara Lapusului" (Lapus region) like a tourist you discovered a folkloric region with very original customs. The most important tourist attractions on the road Baia-Mare - Târgu Lãpus are:
Sisesti. In this commune there is the memorial museum Dr. Vasile Lucaciu (1852-1922), who was a fighter for national union.
Surdesti. This village is known for its wooden church, having the steeple with height of 54 m, and which is considered one of highest constructions of Europe.
Cavnic. It is important for tourist for "Stâlpul tatarilor" monument. This monument have the inscription "Usque hic fuerunt tartaris" and remind us the natives' victory against tartars in 1717.
Târgu Lãpus. This city is placed in Lãpus valley. It is a starting point for rich region of folk art, artistic carved wooden constructions, museums (for example in Rohia village) and folkloric manifestations. Here is a starting point to go in Tibles Mountain.
