Following the route, on road D.N. 17C, along the Iza Valley from Vadu Izei commune till Borsa city as far as Prislop pass, the tourists can discover old wooden constructions, artistic carved houses and gates, original folk costumes, made in intense colours (prevail red and orange), which obtain from vegetal (natural) dyestuff.
Tourist attractions:
Rozavlea and Ieud. These communes are important for their wooden churches with high steeples. Churh from Ieud is cosidered the oldest from Maramures. The first Romanian school was here. In this commune was descovered the oldest romanian writing "Zbornicul de la Ieud".
Bogdan Voda, tourist's village, former Cuhnea - Bogdan voivode residence - with ruins of an court (fortress) and interesting folk festival "Mulsul sterpelor" (like "Sâmbrei oilor" from Oas region) at the middle of may.
Sacel ceramics centre with old tradition.

Moisei. From the road, at right, at the locality exit, on a little hill, there is statuesque ensemble dedicated to memory of 29 patriots from Maramures, who were killed by horthysts in the autumn of1944. The monument is Vida Geza creation and contains 12 pillars - stylized figures and a sanctuary tombstone. |
Borsa. Mining and forest city, Borsa is a starting point for climbing in Rodna Mountains (Pietrosul Peak - 2305m). Near by city there are springs with mineral carbonated, ferruginous, bicarbonated, calcic, magnesian waters.
Tourist complex Borsa. It is situated at 7 km from Borsa city, at elevation 50m. The spa is a agreable place for summer holidays and for winter sports practice. From here you can ascend in neighbourhood at Puzdra hut (1540 m), at la Saua Gãrgãlãu.
From Borsa, the road goes to Prislop pass (one of highest pass from Romania 1413m) and leaving Maramures county come in Suceava county. In Prislop, in the second Sunday of August take place a important folklore manifestation.
From Sighetu Marmatiei to Prislop pass you can go through Viseu Valley. From Viseul de Sus city you can go on a trip in Maramures' Mountains or in Vaser Valley (known for its fishing zones).
