TARA CHIOARULUI

An itinerary through "Tara Chioarului" (Chioar Region), starting from Baia Mare on D.N. 1C, gives you possibility to see a region with many folk manifestations and important tourist attractions.

Recea. It is a commune surrounded by rich forests. "La doua veverite" inn is an agreeable rest place near by this commune.

Satulung. "Stejarul" is an inn near by this commune.

Somcuta Mare. Certified in documents at the XV-th century. From here, on D.J. 182B and a ramification - local way - you can go to Berchezoia village, where are there ruins of Chioar fortress (at the begining of XIV-th century). In 1599 the fortress was occupied by Mihai Viteazul; along the time the fortress goes through different dominations,later on being an outlaw's refuge.

Asuaju de sus In this commune, in the middle of September take place "Târgul cepelor", a traditional festival.
