CULTURAL ECOTOURISM AT THE IALOMITA CAVE

The upper course of Ialomita river was praised by Cezar Bolliac, Al. Vlahuta, Grigore Alexandrescu, Ion Heliade Radulescu. The openning for tourism of this area was made by the modernisation of the access roads, and so in those places are, now, living many peoples, stable in faith and character.

By car, from DN (national road) 71 start two roads: first, from Moroieni village, by the Sanatorium with the same name, and the second, at 1000 altitude on the "Paduchiosul" is a way on the left though "Dichiu" getting down till "Zanoaga", where the two roads meet and passe by the Bolboci chalet, Bolboci lake, Tatarului gorges, Padina chalet and the Monastic complex Pestera.

The old Ialomita, the axis of the settlment in this area, has is spring in the Bucegi mountains at the foot of "Omu" peak, being the cradle of life and beauty of this land, even from the Dacians times and of those before them.

Nearby the springs, at the entrance in the Ialomita cave, the faithful ones and the monks from the neighbouring villages (Pietrosita, Moroeni, Bran, Moieciu s.a.) have built Orthodox monastic dwelling several times. The churches and the cells, being made from wood, have had burned out four times during the four centuries of existence. The last fire had destroyed everything in 1961.
Starting from 1993, August the 1st, the whole complex was completely rebuilt, being now an astonishing place, charming our hearts and souls.
