Debates of the Romanian Senate
During the meeting they had on Monday the Senators passed the Draft Bill of Law for the ratification of the protocole to the Convention on Children's Rights. The signatory states are pledging to bann the selling of children, prostitution of children and child pornography also adding that they will punish the incriminating crimes in keeping with the seriousness of the crime perpetrated. With the aim of preventing the crimee that are mentioned in the protocole the sides have the obligatioen to adopt laws, administrative measures and social programmes in order to strengthen international cooperation for the combatting of the traffic with children.

Budget On the First Seven Months of the Year Provides for a deficit equal to 2% of GDP
For the first seven months of the year the deficit of the consolidated budget is equal to about 22,500 billion lei which is two per cent of the GDP. Although it was approved in a balanced way the budget of social insurance concludes for the first seven months of the year with a deficit of 4,600 billion lei. The main cause is the low level of income from social insurance funds which is equal to 50 per cent only as related to the same timeframe of last year, informs ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION.
Meeting of the Minister of Communication with Prefects and Chairmen of County Councils of Suceava and Botosani
On Monday in the city of Suceava the Cabinet Minister of Communication Dan Nica met with Prefects and Presidents of County Councils of the city and county of Suceava as well as with those of the city and county of Botosani. Also attending were the managers and the specialists in radio communications of the afore mentioned counties. An assessment was made of the way funds of money are being used for the use and modernization of the means of communication in the two counties of Moldova which is in Eastern Romania as well as on the prospects of developing all channels of communication all over the territory, reports ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTINC CORPORATION.

- Prime Minister Adrian Nastase and the Cabinet Minister of Communication and Technology of Information Dan Nica are participating in the official opening of the complex exhibition and seminar as well as business meetings under the heading MADE IN ROMANIA FOR THE TECHNOLOGY OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION. These events are taking place at the International Fair of the Technology of Information, Communications and Bureautics IFABO 2001.
- Prime Minister Adrian Nastase is receiving politician Victor Ciorbea today.
- Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mircea Geoana starts a visit to Helsinki today.
- The Romanian Cabinet Minister of Culture and Cults Razvan Theodorescu has been invited in his capacity as Senator to go to Quebec City. The invitation was issued by the President of the National Assembly of Quebec Province Jean Pierre Charboneau and Dr. Theodorescu is attending the Meeting of Senators of the Parliamentary Foundation for the dialog of cultures.

- The COTROCENI National Museum presents the exhibition THE ROOSTER GREETS THE SUN from the collection Gregor Wolf of Germany. The event is devoted to the international BRANCUSI YEAR.
- The town of Gheorghieni of county Harghita hosts the colloquim of the Theaters of National Minorities of Romania devoted to the International Year of Languages. It is a programme which is initiated by the European Union and the event is taking place with the support of the Department for Interethnic relations of the Ministry of Public Information and the Town Hall of the town of Gheorghieni. Its patron is Andre Lys, the Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Romania.
