Weekly Session of the Cabinet of Romania
In Tuesday's session the Cabinet passed a number of measures directed at putting an end to money laundering in keeping with the decisions of the Council of Justice and Interior Ministers of the European Union with the view to the assimilation of the 40 reccomendations of the group of work in the domain of financial actions for preventing money laundering. At the same time the Cabinet of Bucharest approved the document of position regarding the chapter JUSTICE AND INTERNAL AFFAIRS with measures and pledges assumed by the Romanian State for securing frontiers and for the lifting of visa requirements for the Romanian citizens that travel to the Schengen area countries. Included in this chapter are the measures linked to asylum, drug abuse prevention and curbing, organized crime provention and fighting, combatting of corruption and terrorism. In these domains of activity the Romanian Cabinet does not require any transition interval and pledges to harmonize internal legislation wiarn in Spain
A delegation of the Authoritiy for Privatization is in Madrid for the Romanian - Spanish Economic Forum for the promotion of investments. The event takes place as part of the European Business Week. The Romanian delegation presents on this occasion the stage of privatization of Romanian state companies as well as the offer of business for foreign investors. The head of the Romanian delegation who is Secretary of State George Musliu said that Romania is present at the forum with an important offer of business, with the aim of giving a new dimension to economic cooperation with Spain, says ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION.

- Official visit of the President of Romania Ion Iliescu to Latvia.
- A Romanian Parliamentary Delegation led by Valer Dorneanu, Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies are making an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, Ogdian Gherdjikov.
- The solemn joint session of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate occasioned by the celebration of the National Day of Romania on 1 December at the Palace of the Romanian Parliament. ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION is covering live the solemn session.
- Prime Minister of Romania Adrian Nastase visits Paris, France. After the official arrival ceremony the Romanian Prime Minister meets the French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin as well as the French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine.
- Romanian Foreign Minister Mircea Geoana, acting Chairman of OSCE leaves for Brussels to attend the meeting of EAPC.
- Adrian Severin, Chairman of the OSCE pays an official visit to Macedonia.

Attending are also the Romanian Minister of Communication and Technology of Information Dan Nica and Secretary of State with the Interior Ministry of Bavaria Hermann Regensburger.

- Cabinet Minister of Labor and Social Solidarity Marian Sarbu has announced that he would start negociations with several labor federations for the conclusion of a new social accord for next year.

- The book is written by Cristina Coman.
- The Ambassador of Albania invites all those interested to attend the reception organized by the Embassy on the occasion of the National Day of Albania. The ceremony takes place at CASA OAMENILOR DE STIINTA at Number nine - Piata Lahovari.
- The Fifth Congress of Romanian Spirituality is unfolding at Baile Herculane today and tomorrow on the theme UNITY OF ROMANIANS EVERYWHERE AT THE END OF THE THIRD MILLENNIUM.
ANNIVERSARIES AND COMMEMORATIONS
- 1874 - birth of writer Jean Bart of Romania. Jean Bart is obviously a nom de plume. He was navy commander Eugeniu P. Botez of the Romanian Navy. His main oevre is the novel EUROPOLIS devoted to the people of the town of Sulina, founded by the Genevese under the name of Sellina, a human settlement with people of all nationalities and which was and continues to be Porto Franco. Commander Botez passed on in 1933.
- 1876 - Death of Gheorghe Costa - Foru , politician and professor, the first Rector of the University of Bucharest between 1864 - 1872 . He had been born in 1820.
- 1912 - Birth of actor Colea Rautu, in a village near the river Dniester. RECOLLECTIONS is his book of memories in which he describes his childhood in a fisherman's family. " Whenever I made a serious mistake my father used to whip me and I was never allowed to cry. I had to take it like a man. And have been a man ever since. " The fragment speaks for itself.
- Mr. Rautu is well and going strong at 89.
- 1948 - Birth of world famous soprano Mariana Nicolesco who made a tremendously popular international career. She initiated here in Romania the yearly contest in memory of another Romanian soprano Haricleea Darclee which she has been sponsoring for years now.
