Now on a visit to county Constanta, on the Black Sea Cost of Romania, the President of this country Ion Iliescu was made Honorary Citizen of the Town of Mangalia and was handed the symbolic key of the city, reports ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION.
Press Conference at Mangalia Hosted by President Ion Iliescu
During his visit to county Constanta President Ion Iliescu hosted a press conference which was preceeded by a meeting with the National Council of the Union of Professional Journalists that gave the President the citation of MERITUL ZIARISTIC First Class medal, a medal which is given to all politicians that have normal relations with the media. During the press conference which followed after the ceremony the President has stood for the adoption of a deontology code of journalists as he also said slandering and lies in the papers or magazines cannot be erradicated by administrative means.
In another chapter of the press conference the President of Romania said that at the meeting last Monday the Law of National Security was given back to initiators for its final wording.
According to ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION the President of Romania Ion Iliescu said that general in the reserve Vasile Lupu formerly with the Romanian Information Service was not directly responsible of disseminating forged documents in 1998 but, as he was then Deputy Director of the Service, he did not make proper decision to dissipate confusion, hence part of the responsibility for the situation created is his.
The President of Romania Said He Would Attend Cabinet Session

The President of Romania said DAEWOO is one of the main investors in the economy of Romania and congratulated the representatives of the company that run the shipyards of the town of Mangalia for the results obtained until now.
Request of the Minister of Finance Mihai Tanasescu
Mihai Tanasescu signed a note of the Ministry of Finance to the Senate Standing Committee asking for the transfer of funds of the Treasury to be further made by the National Bank of Romania. The Cabinet Finance Minister said that in case transfers start to be made by TRANSFOND which is a private company recently set up there is the risk of a future monopoly of transfers of the treasury funds. More than this, the note reads, according to ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION, the Finance Ministry of Romania intends to set up its own system of transfers from and into the treasury of this country.
MPs Who are Members of the Committee of Local Administration Debated Alterations of the Bill of Local Administration
MPs of the Committee of Local Administration debated the Government Emergency Ordinance regarding alteration to the Law of Local Administration according to which there will further be four vice-mayors of the Capital City Town Hall and two for each district of Bucharest. There moreover is a provision according to which none of the vice-mayors either of the capital city or of the districts of Bucharest can also be members of the Local Council, informs ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION.
Statement of the Chairman of the Romanian Senate Nicolae Vacaroiu
Chairman of the Romanian Senate Nicolae Vacaroiu said on Wednesday that the Cabinet has learned the content of the report of the European Parliament Commission whose representative to Romania Emma Nicholson drew up and issues and problems raised there will be answered one by one. The Chairman of the Senate believes that many of the observations of the Report are exagerated and even erroneous and added he was surprised at the speed with which the representative of the European Parliament Commission changed attitude after her visit to Romania as here she said she was satisfied with the measures adopted by the Cabinet to cope with problems and considered them encouraging, reports ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION.
Giovanni Ravazio Was Appointed Personal Counselor of the Prime Minister of Romania Adrian Nastase

Prime Minister Adrian Nastase Stands for Modern Agriculture
Prime Minister Adrian Nastase stands for modern agriculture in keeping with the demands and achievements of our time as he considers agriculture a domain which gives very good chances of success to Romania. The Prime Minister was quoted by ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION while at the opening of TIBCO exhibition MADE IN ROMANIA FOR AGRICULTURE with words to the effect that Romanian made agricultural equipment must be competitive both on the domestic market and on foreign markets. This does protect Romanian production and strengthens labor needs. Romania must go towards exports of greater productivity, said the Prime Minister, adding that the draft law for agricultural credits allows for the purchasing of better agricultural equipment.
Prime Minister Adrian Nastase Was Present at the Opening of TIBCO 2001
Romania must create products which are very competitive on foreign markets said the Prime Minister of Romania Adrian Nastase at the opening ceremony of TIBCO 2001. Mr. Nastase added that the Romanian market must be reconquered and where it is necessary it must be protected by home made highly productive equipment in this was job opportunities getting a good boost, informs ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION.
Prime Minister Adrian Nastase said that in the last ten years the situation of the children who are in a difficult situation has been one of the games of creating one image or another according to different groups of interests. The Prime Minister added that the situation of this category is being solved by the Cabinet in a gradual way and should not be used by politicians as an electoral platform or for creating certain foreign relations formulas. Statement of Valer Dorneanu After Meeting in Bratislava
The Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies Valer Dorneanu came back home after the meeting of the Chairman of the European Parliament with Chairmen of Parliaments of countries which are candidating for European Union membership. Mr. Dorneanu told media that the meeting in Bratislava was focused on the enlargement of the union, the institutional framework and the social dimension of enlargement as well as the development of the Union after the Nice meeting.

Romanian Foreign Minister Meets Hungarian Counterpart in Budapest
Mircea Geoana is in Budapest for the Meeting of the North Atlantic Council and on this occasion he also met with his Hungarian counterpart Martonyi Janos. After the talks the Romanian Foreign Minister told ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION that he discussed with his opposite number the Hungarian draft law on the statute of Magyars living outside the borders of Hungary and that the hosts accepted to operate some changes in the draft. In his turn Martonyi Hanos said that some points of view are now nearer to each other while others continue to be divergent.
Debates of the Romanian - German Forum in Berlin
The German capital city hosts the debates of the Romanian - German Forum for the promotion of investments and commercial exchanges. The Romanian Minister for Privatization Ovidiu Musetescu and his Cabinet colleague Dan Nica who is Minister of Telecommunications and Information spoke about the present concerns of the Romanian industry. Right Wing Forces who added the point of view of the opposition. MP Susanne Kastner who is chairperson of the parliamentary group of friendship Germany - Romania and Axel Gerlach who is secretary of state with federal Ministry of Economy said that positive signals have come from Romania especially in the economic domains.
