He was a mathematician, founder of the Romanian school of probability theory,
founder of the statistic school, elaborator of the new concept of invariant mechanics.
Octav Onicescu is the first Romanian with the doctorate in mathematics in Rome,
with the qualification "magna cum laude" front of a commission of 11 university professors,
chaired by Levi-Civita.
