Paul Constantinescu (1909 - 1963)

Composer, teacher at the Music Conservatoire "Ciprian Porumbescu" from Bucharest, Merited Master of Art.
Constantinescu' creation, represented by many works, are almost from all composition genres. Based on the use of popular music, his opera if of an authentical talent and a rich componistical experience.
He wrote symphonic music, chamber music, opera music, instrumental and vocale pieces, film music, chorus music, popular dances for symphonical orchestra. We mention a concerto for strings (1948); a concerto for piano and orchestra (1952); a concerto for violin and orchestra (1957) and one for harp and orchestra (1960); the comical opera "O noapte furtunoasa", written in 1935 and revised in 1950; "Pana Lesnea Rusalim" opera (1955); music for the film "Toamna in Delta".
Twice laureate of State Prize.
