| 1848 | Our vigorous prose writer (great friend of Eminescu) is born in the year of the Revolution, at Siria, on January 18. He is the second child of the furrier Sava Slavici and Elena, born Borlea. |
| 1854-1858 | Goes to "Greek-Orthodoxe" school from his village, having D. Vostinari as teacher. |
| 1859-1860 | Repeats the 4th class, to be able go to highschool. |
| 1860-1865 | Highschool in Arad, being hosted like his heroes from Budulea Taichii. |
| 1865-1867 | 6th and 7th class at the Piarist highschool in Timisoara. |
| 1867-1868 | The 8th class in a private Hungarian highschool in Arad. |
| 1868 | His school leaving examination at Satu-Mare. In the autumn he begins the University from Budapest. |
| 1869 | In January he is seak, interrupts the University and returns to Siria. In April starts the University in Wien, but in August is secretary of the notary from Comlaus. In the autumn he is again in Wien, in the army, being also at the Law University. Now starts the life time friendship with Eminescu, Eminescu being also student in the capital of Habsburgical empire. He speaks fluently in German and Hungarian. His younger Moldavian friend will stimulate him to write literature in Romanian (as it was said Eminescu will do the same with Ion Creanga too). |
| 1870 | Take his "state examination". |
| 1871 | Debut at Convorbiri literare with Fata de birau (comedy). In this summer he organises, together with Eminescu, the pan-Romanian festivities from Putna. |
| 1872 | Is published his first story Zâna zorilor. His work from the begining (love even today by the children) are mostly stories Ileana cea sireata, Florita de codru, Doi feti cu stea în frunte). |
| 1874 | Come to Iasi and reads at Junimea Popa Tanda. After he goes to Bucharest where he settles down. |
| 1875 | He marries Ecaterina Szöke Magyarosy. Travels in Wien and Budapest, in the autumn is named by Titu Maiorescu teacher at "Matei Basarab" highschool from Bucharest. |
| 1877 | Enters the editorial staff of the newspaper Timpul. |
| 1878 | Publishes Gura satului. |
| 1880 | The short story Budulea Taichii. |
| 1881 | Volume Novele din popor, with all his prose works, including his masterpiece Moara cu noroc. |
| 1884 | Sets up at Sibiu the newspaper Tribuna, where G. Cosbuc will come too. |
| 1885 | Because of some articles in which he claims the right of Romanians, he is imprisoned by the Hungarian authorities, but the Court of assizes frees him. Divorce of his first wife Ecaterina. |
| 1886 | Marries in Sibiu Eleonora Tanasescu, and in the autumn his first boy is born, Titu Liviu.
Having a press law suit he is convicted for 3 days in prison. |
| 1888 | Opening night of his historical drama Gaspar Gratiani at the National theater from Bucharest. Convicted by the Court of assizes from Cluj to one year of prison. begins his detention at Vat (Hungary). |
| 1889 | His second child is born Lavinia Ioana Iosefina, during his prisonement. At July 10 he come out of the prison. |
| 1890 | Returns to Bucharest. Teacher at "Elena Doamna" asylum. Is born his third child, Ion Marcel. |
| 1891 | Is born his fourth child, Fulvia, but not the last (he was following the family tradition, where they were five children). |
| 1892 | Become Romanian citizen. Publishes Novele volumes I-II. |
| 1894 | Together with Cosbuc and Caragiale, edites in Bucharest Vatra. Publishes the novel Mara, in fefeuilleton. |
| 1894 | Is born Elena, his fifth child. |
| 1897 | Is born Lavinia, his sixth child. |
| 1902 | Publishes the novel Din batrâni, awarded by the Romanian Academy. |
| 1914 | Runs Ziua, filogerman newspaper, in which he is for the neutrality of Romania in the first world war. |
| 1916 | Is arrested and imprisoned at "Domnesti" fort, and next in the "Luvru" hotel. During the German ocupation writes progerman articles. |
| 1919 | After the peace treaty and the return of the King Ferdinand and of the Government from Moldova, Slavici is arrested again, judged and convicted to 5 years in prison, but he is released in the same year. But, because hil progerman convinctions, his is looked at with hostility. |
| 1921 | Publishes his autobiographical volume Închisorile mele, in which he justify his activity from Transylvania and Romania. |
| 1923 | The novel Cel din urma Armas. |
| 1924 | The volume Amintiri (valuable memories about Eminescu, Caragiale, Creanga, Cosbuc, Maiorescu). |
| 1925 | Ill and tiered by an agitated life, with law suits and detentions in prison, he take refuge at his daughter in Panciu, in a vineyard same as that from Siria. At August 17 he dies, being burried in the Brazi hermitage. Gala Galation reads the farewell speach... |
