AUGUSTIN BUZURA

Born in Berita village from Maramures in 1938. High school at Baia Mare and the Medicine and Farmacy Faculty from Cluj (1958-1964). Renounces easily to the doctor profession and dedicatees himself to the literature. Editorial debut: short stories volume Capul Bunei Sperante. In 1970, starts the cicle which made him known with Absentii.

Both literary critics and readers like his next novels, so daring for those years of communist censorship: Fetele tacerii, Orgolii, Vocile noptii, Refugii, Drumul cenusii (published between 1974 and 1988). After the revolution, he is the president of the Romanian Cultural Foundation. Member of the Romanian Academy, 1992.
