BUCHAREST ZOO

The Zoo Garden from Bucharest was set up in 1955 by some "zoological corner" situated in the main parks of the capital and in Baneasa woods. Between 1955-1959, the animal were progressively gathered in the Baneasa Zoological Corner which was openned in 1959, May 1st and had become, in 1962, the Bucharest Zoological Garden.

The Zoological Garden has an area of 5.85 ha and had, in 1994, January 1st, in its collections, 835 animals from 3 vertebrate classes: 6 reptile forms with 24 reptiles, 49 bird forms with 591 birds and 49 mamel forms with 219 mamels. From the 104 forms, 51 are from the exotical fauna and 53 from the local fauna.

Visiting Program (daily): during the summer - 8-20 / during the winter 9-17
On Saturdays, Sunday and holidays between 10-18 there is the possibility to do poney riding in a manège and carriage rides.
