The journal was first called Romanian Journal of Informatics (1980 – 1991) and in 1991 was renamed as Romanian Journal of Information Technology and Automatic Control.

The journal is especially addressed to scientific researchers, professors, students, students participating in master and doctoral studies, in the domain of information technology and automatic control, who want to promote themselves scientifically and professionally or to improve their knowledge in the field.
