December 5, 2012 - "Mobile Communications - 15 Years of Mobile Communications in Romania: from 2G to 4G"
| On December 5, 2012, it was held the IX edition of the Mobile Communic@tions Gala 2012. The event took place at the Romanian Academy Library in Bucharest. On behalf of the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest, Prof. Doina Banciu PhD, General Director of the Institute, presented a message highlighting the importance and necessity of continuous research and development in the field of Internet and IT&C in general. In context, there was emphasized that, due to the fact that the .ro domains were subject to a cyber attack in the previous days, the Institute encourages the foundation of a "Council of Professionals" in IT&C area that would, among others, provide scientific and professional endorsement on various problems within this field. Also, the message mentioned the importance of developing the Public – Private Partnerships for research and development activities.
On the evening of December 5, 2012, took place the Mobile Communic@tions Excellence Awards Gala. In the Scientific Books section, the jury awarded the Best Book 2012 award to “Internet and .ro domains” work, coordinated by Prof. Doina Banciu and published in collaboration by the Romanian General Association of Engineers and the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest. |

On December 6, 2012, took place at the “Ion Heliade Rădulescu” County Library in the city of Târgovişte, the debate “Library, whereto?”. The session was moderated by Prof. Doina Banciu PhD, General Director of the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest. At the debate participated representatives of the University of Bucharest – Faculty of Letters, directors of several county libraries, librarians, scholars from Bucharest, and from the cities of Târgovişte and Piteşti. The debate emphasised a series of aspects regarding the future development of libraries, aspects that will be transmitted through various channels to specialised institutions. |

The Role of R&D in the ICT Sector in Enabling a Sustainable Economy

ICI Bucharest announces the organization of one day workshop titled “The role of R&D in the ICT sector in enabling a sustainable economy”. The event is to be held on Monday, May 16 from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. in the premises of ICI Bucharest (Dragănescu conference hall). Attendees will include representatives from selected Romanian universities/research institutions, senior managers/experts as well as Romanian government officials. At this event, organized under the joint patronage of the Romanian Ministry of Communications and Information Society and Professor Banciu Doina, Managing Director of ICI Bucharest, have been invited to attend Mr. Valerian Vreme, Romanian Minister of Communications and Information Society and Mr. Florin Lupescu, Principal adviser to the Director-General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for the Information Society and Media ( DGINFSO). |

At the 7th edition of the Mobile Communications Awards Gala, event organised by the Mobile Communications Journal at the Central University Library „Carol I” of Bucharest, the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics has received Best R&D Award 2010 Diploma for outstanding activity in research - development and high-tech within the Specialised National Institutes Section. |

At the official ceremony organised by Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics - I.C.I. Bucharest was situated on first rank in the Bucharest Top Companies, in the field of research, development and high-tech, National Institutes Section.
